ATHENS – The Athens City Council was introduced to representatives from its newly hired retail consulting firm on Monday.
Last month, the Council agreed to hire Birmingham, Alabama-based Retail Strategies – a retail and commercial development consulting firm – to help attract new businesses to the city. At Monday’s study session, Retail Strategies’ Portfolio Director Wesley Vaughn and Retail Development Manager Jordan Williams gave Council members an overview of the services and benefits the company provides.
Retail Strategies uses a combination of data services and other modern analytics, including GIS and mapping software. One such tool is called mobile tracking.
“It will show us how big of a trade area Athens actually has because retailers do not look at just municipal boundaries,” said Vaughn. “We try to tell your story both anecdotally … and from a data perspective.”
