Karen is the Senior Accountant for Retail Specialists and Retail Strategies. She prepares monthly profit and loss statements, balance sheet, cash flow, and other monthly closing reports for distribution to management. She produces and analyzes financial reports for accuracy and completeness and prepares weekly reports and dashboards for CFO.
Before joining Retail Specialists and Retail Strategies, Karen worked for Apex Roofing & Restoration, LLC as a controller where she performed all financial operations for Birmingham and Mobile. She was also a business manager for Cumulus Media where she managed a cluster of seven radio stations. Karen operates her own business, Back in Black Accounting Services, LLC, at a small level providing general bookkeeping services for specialty contractors and subcontractors. She has 24 years of experience in construction accounting.
Karen is a graduate of Jefferson State Community College where she holds an associate’s degree in accounting and a certification of paralegal studies. She is an active member in many groups including the National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers, National Association of Realtors, Alabama Associations of Realtors, and many others. She is a member of the Birmingham Association of Realtors where she sits on both the Advocacy Advisory Committee and the Grievance Committee. The Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council of National Association of Realtors awarded her with the Accredited Buyer’s Representation Designation award.
Outside of her time in the office and broker duties, Karen loves to spend time with her daughter and golden doodle. She loves all things coffee, playing volleyball with her daughter, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors.
