Retail Strategies is pleased to offer a program that fills a need and community desire to be more effective in retail recruitment. More than 70 Tennessee communities have participated in Retail Academy over the past three years. In order to continue building on the momentum created and continue growth, below please find the continuing education for 2019 and 2020.
Quarterly educational webinars serve as benchmarks for the communities who received funding through TNECD to participate in the Retail Academy program. The webinars are intended to answer any questions the communities have and to reinforce the education for best practices. The program is open to all communities in Tennessee with a population of less than 25,000.
The Retail Academy was held in Nashville on July 22, 2019. We encouraged participants to attend the ICSC TNKY Idea Exchange immediately following the Retail Academy. The goal is for Retail Academy to supply the fundamental tools to communities for retail recruitment so they can effectively recruit retailers at the ICSC show.

Retail Academy is a program that empowers community leaders to take a proactive approach to their retail opportunities. Communities will be trained and equipped with the tools and education necessary to attract new retailers to their markets, while providing support to their existing local businesses.
Retail Academy is designed to equip community leaders with a realistic list of retail prospects and action plan to market the community to the prospects.
Six hours of customized training include an education on the marketing materials provided, how to create an elevator pitch, setting up conference meetings, prospect outreach and where to find industry leading information critical to implementing a long-term retail recruitment plan.
