BIRMINGHAM, AL (December 7, 2023) – Mountain Home, Arkansas, is set to receive a boost in its downtown revitalization efforts and support for its small business community, thanks to grant funding secured by the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District (NWAEDD) through the USDA. Collaborating with community leaders in Mountain Home, Downtown Strategies, a division of Retail Strategies, will spearhead the development of a comprehensive five-year action plan for the downtown area and offer valuable training opportunities for local small business owners.

“Our goal is to cultivate a downtown area that embodies the spirit of Mountain Home and creates a place for economic vitality. With the support and expertise of Downtown Strategies, we are eager to start the journey towards growth and revitalization,” said Mayor Hillrey Adams of Mountain Home.

Chelsey Weaver, Community Development Coordinator at NWAEDD, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “We look forward to collaborating with the leaders in Mountain Home and the Downtown Strategies team to revitalize the heart of this community. Downtown rejuvenation plays a crucial role in fostering economic growth, and we believe that this partnership will contribute significantly to that goal.”

In collaboration with Mountain Home, this partnership will deliver a customized five-year downtown revitalization plan and quarterly training for local small businesses. The plan focuses on five key areas: market analysis, policy and administration, design, tourism and promotion, and economic vitality, aiming to enhance the sustainability and resilience of the community’s small businesses.

“Mountain Home has a diverse economy with thriving healthcare, retail, and tourism sectors,” said Clay Craft, Vice President of Client Services at Retail Strategies. “With the assistance of NWEDD, our team is going to make a real impact for the downtown district in Mountain Home as well as supporting local business owners which is important to the city. My relationship with the Retail Strategies team has been extremely valuable over the last couple of years as I’ve searched for sites in the Southeast. They have been persistent and provided any information they could gather for available properties that fit my criteria. If they received news that a space was coming available they made sure to immediately give me a call and connect with the owners. I would recommend using this service to any of my colleagues looking in their client cities.
