The Sales Tax Report 2026

Sales Tax Revenue report

Jobs, Revenue, and Growth:

The Sales Tax Impact by Retail and Restaurants

This annual report provides an in-depth analysis of more than 200 national retail and restaurant brands, offering insights for economic development professionals and city leaders.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • Estimated annual sales tax revenue per location, at your community’s own rate
  • Average unit volumes and total U.S. unit counts
  • Estimated jobs per location
  • Filtering by state, category, and store size
  • A target list builder with combined revenue and job totals, downloadable as a PDF

New this year: sales tax estimates now apply a category taxable ratio, so groceries, prescriptions, and fuel are not counted at full value. Figures for grocery and convenience brands are lower than in past editions and closer to what a community actually collects.
