A new Retail Academy program is launching in six Arkansas towns, including Newport, Hope, and Forrest City, aimed at fostering economic growth through strategic retail development. Spearheaded by Retail Strategies and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, this initiative will provide tailored support to help local leaders attract businesses, boost investments, and create sustainable commercial ecosystems.

The program will focus on training leaders in market analysis, commercial real estate, and business recruitment. It will equip communities with data-driven tools to identify gaps and opportunities, making them more attractive to national retailers and local businesses alike. The goal is to increase investment in vital sectors, including restaurants, hotels, and other services.
As the program rolls out, local officials hope it will lead to job creation, an enhanced tax base, and increased tourism. By improving the economic infrastructure of these communities, the Retail Academy is expected to drive long-term growth, positioning these towns as prime locations for business expansion.
