BIRMINGHAM, AL (May 10, 2022) – Aiken, South Carolina has selected Retail Strategies, the leading national community development firm, to develop and execute a retail recruitment plan on behalf of the city. After conversations at ICSC Las Vegas, the nation’s largest retail real estate trade show, Aiken city leaders wanted the Retail Strategies team to represent their city to the retail community.
“Retail Strategies will partner with the City of Aiken to help them understand and identify their redevelopment and retail recruitment goals,” said Lacey Bacchus, business developer for Retail Strategies. “By teaming up with the city of Aiken, Retail Strategies will help advance this unique community’s growth potential.”
The economic development director for Aiken, Tim O’Briant, stated, “Our city has a lot of things happening that promise to bring renewed and long lasting prosperity and stability to our community. We are excited to partner with Retail Strategies to have them identify new retail, restaurant and businesses for our retail corridors and development opportunities. We hope to attract new quality of life options for our residents and potential new residents considering making Aiken their home.”
Through the partnership, the city will receive a tailored retail recruitment plan based on in-depth market analysis, consumer analysis and real estate assessment and proactive retail and broker outreach by the Retail Strategies team. Jeff Sommer and Drew Kaufmann, members of Aiken’s Retail Strategies team, performed a boots-on-the-ground tour of the market earlier this month to analyze Aiken’s real estate opportunities and identify areas of opportunity for expanding businesses. The next step is to create a retail recruitment plan and begin proactive outreach about specific retail real estate opportunities in Aiken to potential companies, property owners, brokers, and developers.
