BIRMINGHAM, AL (July 23, 2024) – The City of Broussard, Louisiana is excited to announce a new partnership with Retail Strategies, a leading national retail recruitment firm. This strategic alliance will bolster the city’s economic development efforts by attracting national retail and restaurant tenants to the area. This initiative aligns with Mayor Ray Bourque’s vision to enhance the retail landscape of Broussard, creating a vibrant community for residents and visitors alike.

The city’s leadership participated in Retail Academy with their parish leaders at Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA) in 2023. Retail Academy is Retail Strategies’ training program that guides community leaders through their commercial development opportunities and empowers them on the retail recruitment process. The expanded partnership with Retail Strategies is a natural progression, building on the City’s knowledge gained from Retail Academy.
Lacey Bacchus, Senior Director of Community Partnerships at Retail Strategies, commented on the city’s potential. “Broussard is experiencing explosive population and residential growth,” Bacchus stated. “Now is the perfect time to start telling this amazing city’s story to expanding retailers and developers. Retail Strategies will serve as an extension of Broussard’s economic development team, providing tailored strategies and hands-on recruitment efforts to secure national retailers and restaurants. A focus will be given to Broussard’s Retail Ready Zones, three shovel ready sites designed to expedite the process for retailers to begin operations in the city. This partnership is expected to bring significant economic benefits, including job creation, increased sales tax revenue, and enhanced community amenities.
