It’s hard to deny the progress of cities like Broussard, when you look around and see all that’s happening. In an effort to make sure the city continues to stand at the forefront of progress, Mayor Ray Bourque has employed an Alabama-based consulting firm.
For more than a year, the Broussard team kept in contact with Retail Strategies, designing a plan to bolster national retail and restaurant tenants in the area. Bourque believes this benefits more than just new business.
“Now what we’re able to do is look at statistical and demographic information, as well as sales leakage, which will help our existing businesses,” Bourque said. “But also they’re the experts in making connections to the national brands that we’re trying to attract. “

“They’ve got a really clear vision for what they want in Broussard,” Bailey said. “And so it’s really great for us to partner with those who are already super invested in seeing their communities grow.”
According to Bourque, In just a few short weeks, interest in locating to Broussard has peaked. Bailey believes its due to the town being “bought in” to the process of attracting new business.
“The mayor and his team are 100% bought in to the work that we do, and that is, of course, at the end of the day, recruiting also retail,” she said.
“It’s only been a few weeks and already we’ve had two phone meetings with two national brands that are looking at Broussard,” Bourque said. “And this sort of elevates our sales pitch to them. On why we’re the right choice to invest.”
