BIRMINGHAM, AL (July 16, 2024)PartnerTulsa has chosen Retail Strategies to support development of a comprehensive retail recruitment plan created to expand Tulsa’s retail sector. This initiative marks a significant step towards identifying and meeting the city’s retail needs for the next five years.

Michelle Barnett, interim executive director and senior vice president of economic and workforce development for PartnerTulsa, highlighted the collaborative spirit of this initiative, “We recognize that attracting retail is a lengthy process, and we are excited to have the support of Retail Strategies. Their team’s extensive experience in the retail real estate industry and their deep involvement in Oklahoma will be invaluable in guiding us toward achieving our growth vision.”

The retail recruitment strategy will encompass several key objectives:

Identify Unmet and Anticipated Retail Needs: Forecast Tulsa’s retail demands over the next five years to ensure future needs are addressed.

Set Short and Long-Term Goals: Bolster Tulsa’s retail offerings by introducing new-to-market retail and incremental retail to expand commercial corridors.

Site Identification for Retail Development: Determine available and potential sites for new retail establishments based on current and projected market conditions.

Appropriate Retail Prospects: Identify suitable retail businesses that align with Tulsa’s growth strategy.

Enhance Marketability and Visibility: Recommend key actions to improve Tulsa’s attractiveness to potential retailers.

Sarah Beth Stewart, vice president of business development for Retail Strategies, emphasized Tulsa’s strategic advantage, stating, “Tulsa boasts major shopping corridors that attract shoppers from neighboring states, so their consumer trade area is really large. Our team will focus on elevating Tulsa’s retail offerings to the next level. An initial focus is a redevelopment project where we will create a strategy to introduce new-to-market retail while also bringing in incremental infill to boost Tulsa’s overall tax base.”
