IKEA, a national furniture retailer known for its home furnishings and large showrooms, announced its plans to bring one of its new U.S. city stores to Tulsa – the first IKEA store in Oklahoma.
IKEA Tulsa is expected to open sometime in fall of 2026.
The city store will be located in the former Belk location at Tulsa Hills – a 51,000 sq. foot building that will also serve as an authorized pick-up location for online sales.
“For years, Tulsans have rallied around the idea of having an IKEA in our city, and I’m proud to say this generation of leaders made it happen,” Mayor Monroe Nichols said. “I want to thank Erran Persley, our Chief Economic Development Officer, PartnerTulsa, the Tulsa City Council, and so many others for helping make this a reality.”
The retailer is expected to bring in an additional $30-40 million annually to the City, boosting retail sales and driving traffic to the Tulsa Hills shopping area. The store’s indirect impact to the area is expected to bring in more than $100 million.
Because large projects are economic drivers for any city, incentive packages are used to help move projects to completion. As such, the Tulsa City Council will be considering an economic resolution with the retailer in the coming weeks.
