BIRMINGHAM, AL (August 18, 2020) –Sarah Beth Thornton, Business Developer at Retail Strategies, has been named as one of Delta Zeta’s 2020 35 Under 35 honorees. The award is chosen based on young professionals who have made a significant impact in their industry, before the age of 35. To qualify, honorees must have demonstrated leadership, initiative and dedication to their careers. The award recognizes the achievements, ambition and influences of individuals.

Thornton is a graduate of the University of Alabama Huntsville where she was an active volunteer in the Lambda Kappa chapter of Delta Zeta. She was the Annual Philanthropy Chair of her sorority during her time at school. Thornton also serves on the National Recruitment team to help chapters across the country with their membership development.

“When I was in college, I served as the Annual Philanthropy Chair where I was in charge of planning our major annual fundraising event,” Thornton said. “Through that position, I learned how to approach businesses and individuals to solicit donations for our cause. Today, I meet many amazing leaders to hear why they love their communities and help them reach their retail potential.”

“Sarah Beth is a great representative of our company and truly embodies our core values,” said Lacey Beasley, president of Retail Strategies. “This award is well deserved, and we couldn’t be prouder of her. We are grateful for her many contributions to Retail Strategies.”

Thornton is the director of Retail Strategies’ Business Development team. She advises leaders in Florida, Louisiana, Virginia, Kentucky and North Carolina on their retail recruitment and business development initiatives. Thornton brings a consultative background to Retail Strategies. She has brought in over 25 cities and counties to Retail Strategies taking their first and next step in economic development.

Thornton previously worked in the media industry selling TV advertising at both FOX and NBC affiliates. She utilized data and local drivers to assist small businesses in promoting their brands and services. Her dream is to one day start her own nonprofit helping drug abusers find what they are passionate about and making it into a reality.

My relationship with the Retail Strategies team has been extremely valuable over the last couple of years as I’ve searched for sites in the Southeast. They have been persistent and provided any information they could gather for available properties that fit my criteria. If they received news that a space was coming available they made sure to immediately give me a call and connect with the owners. I would recommend using this service to any of my colleagues looking in their client cities.
