BIRMINGHAM, AL (April 19, 2024) – Tiffin, Iowa has officially partnered with Retail Strategies, a leading retail recruitment firm, to spearhead the City’s new retail economic development plan. This strategic move aims to enhance Tiffin’s retail and dining landscape, stimulating economic growth and leveraging the recently implemented local option sales tax.
Doug Boldt, Tiffin’s City Administrator, stated, “Tiffin chose Retail Strategies at the conclusion of a thorough process weighing several firms. They were selected because their experienced team goes beyond data to drive actual results in Iowa communities. We are confident in their ability to bring vibrant retail and dining options to our city.”
In September, Tiffin residents approved a referendum for a 1% local option sales tax which was implemented in January. Its approval marks a strategic move to increase the City’s revenue through enhanced retail and restaurant offerings. The tax is expected to generate significant income for the City, funding essential services and community projects.

Retail Strategies will utilize its expertise in retail sector, data and analytics, market knowledge, and connections within the retail industry to identify and attract businesses that align with Tiffin’s consumer demand and spending. Retail Strategies will represent the City of Tiffin at the nation’s largest retail real estate conference, ICSC Las Vegas, in May 2024.
