BIRMINGHAM, AL (February 3, 2022) – Blythe, California is set to work on its retail attraction and recruitment efforts by partnering with Retail Strategies. The city is investing a portion of its American Rescue Plan Funds toward this partnership. In return, they will receive a tailored retail recruitment plan along with retail and broker outreach by the Retail Strategies team.

“We initially met with the Retail Strategies team during the ICSC Here We Go, 2021! conference in Las Vegas,” said Mallory Crecelius, Interim City Manager. “Retail Strategies had a large presence at the show, focused on meeting with retailers on behalf of their city partners. They shared with us how they work to learn the unique story of Blythe and establish relationships with retailers on our behalf in order to promote our market.”

“Blythe is located on Interstate 10 and features high traffic counts from cars on their way in and out of California. There are several high-quality retail sites in the city that our team looks forward to promoting as we reach out to the local property owners,” said Matthew Tate, director of business development for the Western Region. “Retail Strategies is excited to be entering into a partnership with the city and I am encouraged to see that the city’s leadership is willing to allocate ARPA dollars towards a partnership like this. Our partnership will help Blythe immediately and for years to come.”

Through the new partnership, Retail Strategies will perform a real estate market analysis of the businesses located in Blythe and identify areas of opportunity with expanding businesses. The Retail Strategies team will work hand in hand with community leaders to help them understand their market and highlight opportunities for infill. Additionally, the team at Retail Strategies will proactively reach out to potential businesses, property owners, brokers, and developers on behalf of Blythe.

My relationship with the Retail Strategies team has been extremely valuable over the last couple of years as I’ve searched for sites in the Southeast. They have been persistent and provided any information they could gather for available properties that fit my criteria. If they received news that a space was coming available they made sure to immediately give me a call and connect with the owners. I would recommend using this service to any of my colleagues looking in their client cities.
