BIRMINGHAM, AL (October 2, 2026) – The Downtown Development Authority of Conyers and the City of Conyers have jointly hired Downtown Strategies, the downtown division of Retail Strategies, to develop a comprehensive downtown plan for Olde Town Conyers. The DDA and the City are sharing the cost of the partnership, a shared investment that reflects both organizations’ commitment to the continued growth of the historic downtown.
The engagement begins with a stakeholder input workshop on October 6, bringing together downtown business owners, DDA board members, and City of Conyers staff. The workshop is designed to gather firsthand perspective on downtown’s assets, challenges, and opportunities directly from the people who live and work there.
From that input, the Downtown Strategies team will build a five-year strategic plan organized around short-term, medium-term, and long-term wins. The approach gives Conyers momentum early while keeping the community focused on the larger vision. Downtown Strategies will remain engaged beyond delivery of the plan, working alongside community staff to help implement its recommendations.
