BIRMINGHAM, AL (June 30, 2024) – Community leaders from the Town of Maysville recently participated in Retail Academy, a retail education program developed by Retail Strategies. The Retail Academy, held on July 23 and 24, provided city leaders with the essential tools and knowledge to attract and cultivate retail opportunities.
“Attending Retail Academy has been incredibly beneficial for Maysville town leadership,” said Town Manager, Schumata Brown. “The insights and retail strategy provided by the team at Retail Strategies have equipped us with the knowledge to effectively attract retail businesses to our town. This training is a vital step towards creating a vibrant retail environment that meets the needs of our community and supports our economic growth.”
During the two-day program, attendees from Maysville received consumer and visitor data, a market analysis, retail and restaurant businesses that align with the consumer profile the city, and a tailored retail recruitment strategy. Additionally, they received extensive training on how to make proactive outreach to expanding businesses.
“Understanding the drivers of retail site selection and the data required to successfully attract new retailers is vital for any town’s growth. For Maysville, being able to quantify and articulate the high traffic volume from travelers heading to the beach is crucial for attracting expanding businesses. Our goal is to empower town leaders with the knowledge, data, and strategy needed to drive economic development,” said Lacey Bacchus, Senior Director of Community Partnerships at Retail Strategies.
