Town of Wiggins, Colorado Partners with Retail Strategies to Advance Retail Recruitment Along Interstate 76

BIRMINGHAM, AL (July 1, 2026) – The Town of Wiggins, Colorado, is taking the next step in preparing for commercial growth by partnering with Retail Strategies on a retail recruitment initiative. The partnership will position the community to capitalize on its strategic location along Interstate 76 while attracting new retailers, restaurants, and commercial investment that support both residents and future employers.

Located approximately 66 miles northeast of Denver at the intersection of Interstate 76, U.S. Highway 34, and Colorado Highway 52, Wiggins serves as the “Gateway of the Plains and the Rockies.” Once known primarily for its agricultural roots, the community is increasingly attracting residents seeking small-town living with convenient access to the Denver metropolitan area. With a planned town and county industrial park and continued residential growth, Town leaders see an opportunity to proactively shape the community’s commercial future.

Retail Strategies will serve as an extension of Town staff, providing market analysis, retail real estate expertise, and targeted business recruitment to help attract retailers and restaurants that align with Wiggins’ long-term vision. The firm will evaluate retail corridors, identify development-ready opportunities, and conduct outreach to retailers, developers, brokers, and commercial property owners on the Town’s behalf.

“Our community is entering an important period of growth,” said Craig Miller, Town Manager for the Town of Wiggins. “As new employers and residents choose Wiggins, we want to ensure our commercial development keeps pace. This partnership gives us access to the market intelligence, retail relationships, and real estate expertise needed to recruit businesses that fit our community and support our long-term vision.”

With Interstate 76 providing regional connectivity and new industrial development expected to bring additional employees and investment to the area, Wiggins is well-positioned to pursue convenience retail, quick-service restaurants, and other commercial amenities that enhance residents’ quality of life while serving travelers and the surrounding region.

“Wiggins has many of the characteristics retailers are looking for: excellent highway access, community leadership committed to growth, and emerging commercial opportunities,” said Kate Havlik, Director of Community Partnerships at Retail Strategies. “Our role is to combine market data, real estate expertise, and national retailer relationships to help Wiggins compete for the businesses that best fit the community. We’re excited to partner with Town leadership to turn that potential into new investment.”

Retail Strategies has partnered with more than 1,000 communities across the country, helping municipalities recruit national and regional retailers, support local businesses, and strengthen commercial corridors. By combining market analytics with real estate expertise and relationships with retailers, the firm helps communities move beyond planning to successful retail recruitment.
