BIRMINGHAM, AL (January 28, 2024) – City leaders from Farmersville, Texas, participated in Retail Academy on January 23 in Birmingham, Alabama. The two-day event was designed for participants to learn how to engage retail real estate decision-makers and use demographic and trade area data to drive strategic actions. Notably, city leaders had the unique opportunity to hear from retailers like Wendy’s, Jersey Mike’s, and McDonald’s, gaining an inside look into how retailers make decisions.

“Farmersville is a community with immense potential. Through the Retail Academy program, the city is now equipped with the knowledge and tools to grow their retail landscape successfully,” said Chris Bontrager, vice president of the western region at Retail Strategies.

Rodney Williams, executive director for Farmersville Economic Development Corporation, stated, “Farmersville is committed to economic growth, and the Retail Academy program aligned perfectly with our goals. Learning from industry experts, national retailers, and getting hands-on real estate training about opportunities in our community was extremely valuable. The networking opportunity with other community leaders and the Retail Academy staff was a great way to begin the year.”

My relationship with the Retail Strategies team has been extremely valuable over the last couple of years as I’ve searched for sites in the Southeast. They have been persistent and provided any information they could gather for available properties that fit my criteria. If they received news that a space was coming available they made sure to immediately give me a call and connect with the owners. I would recommend using this service to any of my colleagues looking in their client cities.
