The city of Deer Park is excited to announce a new partnership with Retail Strategies, the leading community development firm. The partnership will include a tailored retail recruitment plan and a five-year action plan for the downtown area. This relationship will set in motion Deer Park’s proactive retail attraction and downtown revitalization efforts.

“Together, we aim to bring in a diverse mix of retailers that will not only improve the shopping experience for our residents but also contribute to the overall economic vitality of our city. Retail Strategies will serve as our representative, connecting us with developers, brokers, and expanding retail companies to identify prime opportunities for development,” said Mayor Tim Verzal.

Jessica Bohlen, director of community partnerships for Retail Strategies, said, “We are excited to collaborate with Deer Park on these projects. When communities reassess both their national retail efforts and their approach to enhancing their downtown, it’s a sign that they are serious about the progress of the community and multiple levels. Retail Strategies has a history of working in Washington communities and we’re pleased Deer Park chose us as their partner.”

Retail Strategies will serve as an extension of the city’s economic development efforts, representing Deer Park to a network of developers, brokers, and expanding retail companies. The firm’s role will be pivotal in attracting new business, leveraging their expertise to analyze market data, evaluate potential sites, and identify prime opportunities for retail development. This initiative is not just about business attraction but also about enhancing the overall economic vitality and quality of life in Deer Park.

To kick off the new downtown strategic plan, there will be a Downtown Strategic Visioning Workshop held on May 15 with downtown stakeholders. This serves as the first phase to developing the five-year action plan.

My relationship with the Retail Strategies team has been extremely valuable over the last couple of years as I’ve searched for sites in the Southeast. They have been persistent and provided any information they could gather for available properties that fit my criteria. If they received news that a space was coming available they made sure to immediately give me a call and connect with the owners. I would recommend using this service to any of my colleagues looking in their client cities.
